Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said the attacker was a 45-year-old man who was related to seven of the victims, while the eighth victim was a friend of the pregnant woman. He noted that the motives for the attack remain unknown and that investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police clarified that among the victims were a 5-year-old boy, a 1-year-old girl, and a pregnant woman, as well as several members of the attacker’s family.

According to investigations, video and audio recordings captured shots being fired from inside the house before two women arrived at the scene in a state of panic. They knocked on the door before the attacker emerged and shot them as they attempted to flee, after which he returned inside the home.

Upon arrival, police found the two women dead outside the house. Authorities then used a drone and a robot to enter the premises, where they discovered the remaining victims inside, along with the attacker, who was found dead on the second floor from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities confirmed that all victims had been killed before police arrived, while investigators continue to examine evidence and mobile phones to determine the motive behind the attack.

This brings the total number of fatalities in the incident to nine, including the attacker, as investigations remain ongoing to uncover the circumstances and motives preceding the shooting.
