'CENTCOM': Cargo Ship Disrupted After Attempting to Break Naval Blockade on Iran
- 135 ships rerouted, 4 disabled, and 10 tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps destroyed within three months
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces disabled a commercial cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman on October 10 after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to breach the ongoing naval blockade on Iran.
CENTCOM stated that a U.S. military fighter targeted the stern of the Panama-flagged vessel “Ocean Mollie,” also known as “Arica Sun,” with precision-guided munitions, completely disabling its propulsion without injuring any crew members.

It added that the large vessel had attempted to transit through territorial waters after previously departing from an Iranian port.
The command clarified that U.S. forces resumed enforcing the blockade on all ships entering or leaving Iranian ports on July 14, noting that four commercial vessels had been disabled and 135 ships rerouted over a three-month period of strict blockade enforcement.
It also reported that U.S. forces destroyed 10 tankers during the same period, which it said were linked to a secret, multi-billion-dollar network of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
CENTCOM urged all mariners to comply with the blockade warnings issued by its forces, continue monitoring maritime navigation notices, and maintain contact with U.S. naval forces on Channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz.
