Despite the Bitter Pain and Tragedy... Gaza Continues
The dark shadows of the current month coincide with a painful anniversary that exposes a bitter human reality. In October 2023, Israel violated all principles of international justice against the innocent, defenseless people of Gaza, crushing human rights under the weight of the war machine.
Although the roar of aircraft and continuous bombardment in the Gaza Strip ceased months ago, the concept of "the end of the war" appears to be an optical illusion; the aggression has not ended, but rather transformed into another form of slow, systematic genocide, leaving behind an uninhabitable environment and a deep-rooted tragedy that the people of the Strip endure daily.
When discussing the number of martyrs and the wounded, the heart bleeds before the eyes. According to the latest official statistical report issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip on October 1, 2026, the cumulative toll of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, stands at approximately 74,243 martyrs and 175,232 wounded.

Looking clearly at the most vulnerable and suffering groups in Gaza, we find children who have been deprived of their most basic rights to safety and education, and who are now facing a complex psychological and physical crisis. They are haunted by post-traumatic stress disorders amid a complete absence of psychological support networks and educational facilities.
As for the elderly, they struggle with chronic diseases without medication, living in tents that lack even the minimum requirements of human dignity, after witnessing the destruction of their lifelong hardships and seeing their homes reduced to rubble.
In the same context, young people have become unemployed due to the lack of job opportunities, resulting from the comprehensive destruction inflicted on Gaza’s infrastructure and economy over the past three years.
The cessation of bombardment was not accompanied by a flow of aid or a genuine start to reconstruction. Instead, the suffocating siege has continued, deepening the water and health catastrophe. Potable water is nearly non-existent, and epidemics have begun to ravage the bodies of the vulnerable, amid a completely collapsed health sector and hospitals that are unable to provide even the minimum level of medical care. This scene proves that Gaza is still living under the weight of ongoing collective punishment, where the deprivation of basic necessities is used as a silent, sustainable weapon.
In conclusion, the current situation in Gaza shows that the greatest challenge today is not merely achieving a military ceasefire, but confronting the consequences of a long-term humanitarian tragedy.
The continued marginalization of the Strip’s residents’ suffering and the international silence regarding their stolen rights represent a recurring moral failure by the international community. It confirms that Gaza will not recover simply by the cessation of hostilities; it requires true justice that lifts the siege, ensures accountability for the perpetrators, and restores the lost human dignity of its people.
