Confirming Al-Siyasa's Report: 'Hospital Meals' Tender Worth 143 Million KD Handed Over to the Court of Audit

Confirming what “Al-Siyasa” published in its Monday, October 5, issue, under the headline “143 million dinars for hospital and health center meals,” the Ministry of Health referred the tender for preparing and providing meals to hospitals and health centers, with a total cost of 142.992 million dinars, to the Court of Audit. The Court announced on Wednesday last week that it had received the tender, to apply prior oversight procedures, conduct auditing, and issue an opinion on approval, provided there are no comments that the Ministry, as the competent authority, must address.

The Ministry also referred to the Court a decision to extend four previous contracts for the preparation and provision of meals.

In a related development, the Board of Directors of the Central Tenders Committee, by a majority of its members, approved awarding the tender for preparing and providing meals to hospitals and health centers to four companies. The first group’s contract is valued at 36.974 million dinars, the second at 36.667 million dinars, the third at a total cost of 32.354 million dinars, and the fourth at a total cost of 36.997 million dinars.

Notably, the Ministry also obtained the Committee’s approval to extend the tenders for preparing and providing meals to its affiliated hospitals and health centers for six months, pending the completion of procedures for the new tender, which has been referred to the Court for review and auditing.
