U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that it had redirected 133 commercial vessels since the resumption of the naval blockade on Iranian ports, affirming that U.S. forces continue to enforce it strictly.

In a statement, CENTCOM said that U.S. forces had altered the course of 133 commercial vessels and detained three ships that refused to comply with orders, as of October 9.

Earlier, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper emphasized in an operational update that the U.S. military continues to carry out the mission of enforcing the blockade on Iranian ports “with intense focus,” stressing that U.S. forces would swiftly act against any vessels attempting to breach it.

Cooper stated in a recent post on the X platform that U.S. forces had helped ensure the safe passage of more than one billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the past two months.

He added that U.S. forces remain committed to keeping the Strait of Hormuz “open and secure,” while simultaneously preventing Iran from exporting any oil shipments from its ports, affirming that the naval blockade remains “effective and strong” and is achieving its objectives.
