Al-Babtain Central Library... Hosts the Dar Al-Shi'r Al-Arabi
The Al-Bait Al-Maqdis Central Library for Arabic Poetry received a delegation from the “Dar Al-Shi’r Al-Arabi” (Center for Arabic Poetry) in the Emirate of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, represented by the Center’s Director, Salima Al-Mazrouei, and its Communications and Media Officer, Mune Ahmed Saeed Al-Hadrami, who conducted a comprehensive tour of the library.
During the tour, the guests were introduced to the library’s various departments and its information resources, including books, periodicals, and university theses on Arabic poetry. The visit also included an overview of the library’s collection of original manuscripts and rare books held by the Al-Bait Al-Maqdis Library.
The guests were further informed about the key services provided by the Al-Bait Al-Maqdis Library to readers and researchers, such as searching the electronic catalog and internal lending services. They were also introduced to the library’s major publications, which attracted their interest, particularly the catalog of original manuscripts in the Al-Bait Al-Maqdis Library, published in ten volumes, and the series “Nawadir Al-Nawadir min Al-Kutub” (Rare Gems from Books), which highlights the library’s treasures and rare items of Arabic culture.

Professor Salima Al-Mazrouei praised the Al-Bait Al-Maqdis Central Library for Arabic Poetry as the first Arab library specialized in poetry. She commended the role of its late founder, the poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain, and appreciated his significant efforts in supporting the Arabic language and its culture. She also highlighted the library’s continued cultural and civilizational role as a Kuwaiti and Gulf cultural beacon under the leadership of the library’s Board of Directors Chairman, Saud Abdulaziz Al-Babtain.
It is worth noting that the Center for Arabic Poetry was established in 2024, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, to preserve and enhance the status of poetry across ages, celebrate its importance in Arab heritage, support poetic talents, and enrich the Arab library with distinguished publications.
