Cyber Defamation... A Court Without a Judge
In the digital world, an image, a word, or an accusation posted on social media can become a defamation that haunts a person, even after the post has been deleted. The danger lies in the fact that the spread of information does not guarantee its truth, and a person may find themselves facing social judgment before the facts attributed to them are proven.
From this perspective, the importance of legal responsibility in protecting reputation, privacy, and dignity becomes evident, as does the need to hold accountable those who exploit social media to harm others and spread unsubstantiated allegations. Freedom of expression is a right, but it does not mean that a person’s reputation should be its price.
For this reason, legal authorities refer all cases of electronic abuse directly to the judiciary, due to the completeness of the elements of criminalization that establish the offense against those who harm others.
