Arab and international condemnations of Houthi attacks on Abha and King Khalid airports in Saudi Arabia

- Reaffirmation of solidarity with the Kingdom, rejection of attacks on civilian facilities, and calls to halt aggression and respect international law

Arab and international condemnations continued on Thursday regarding the Houthi attacks that targeted Abha and King Khalid International Airports in Saudi Arabia, which resulted in casualties, injuries, and material damage. These statements underscored solidarity with the Kingdom, rejected the targeting of civilian infrastructure, and called for an end to the attacks and respect for international law.

British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Stephen Doughty stated that his country strongly condemns the attacks targeting Abha and the infrastructure of King Khalid International Airport. He affirmed the United Kingdom’s support for Saudi Arabia in confronting Houthi aggression and expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed its condemnation of the attacks on the two airports over the past days, reaffirming its full solidarity with the leadership, government, and people of Saudi Arabia, and rejecting the targeting of civilian infrastructure.

For its part, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attacks pose a threat to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the region, calling for an end to the aggression and respect for international law, state sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It noted that it is monitoring the situation of injured Egyptians and directed its embassy in Riyadh to continue coordination with relevant Saudi authorities.

Jordan condemned the attacks, viewing them as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.

Spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Fuad al-Majali, affirmed Jordan’s support for the measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents. He expressed condolences to the families of victims from Moroccan, Algerian, and Sudanese nationalities.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for its measures to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, calling on the international community to take a firm stance to halt the attacks, protect civilians, and ensure the safety of air navigation.

In a similar vein, the Arab League condemned the continued Houthi attacks on the Kingdom, warning against the dangers of targeting civil aviation facilities and endangering the lives of travelers and workers.

The League emphasized that these attacks constitute a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law, stressing that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Arab national security. It called for an immediate halt to the attacks and avoidance of further escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.
