Potential strikes could target Iranian energy facilities, infrastructure, and nuclear sites

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the war with Iran would end very soon, describing Iran as a "failed country" and affirming that Tehran would never possess a nuclear weapon.

Trump added that the United States had exported more oil through the Strait of Hormuz in the past three days than at any point in its history, noting that Iran’s withdrawal was imminent and that oil prices would see a very sharp decline, accompanied by a drop in the prices of other commodities.

Alongside these remarks, Axios reported that U.S. officials said the Pentagon had issued instructions to U.S. Central Command to complete preparations for the potential resumption of major combat operations against Iran, amid escalating discussions within the U.S. administration about launching new strikes.

The website quoted a White House official confirming that all options regarding Iran remained available to President Trump at any time, while a Pentagon official clarified that the ministry’s role was to develop military options and present them to the president for decision-making.

According to sources speaking to Axios, any potential resumption of combat operations could include bombing targets in Iran’s energy sector, infrastructure, and nuclear facilities.

In the same context, NBC reported that a U.S. official said Trump had discussed with his national security team the possibility of resuming military operations against Iran in the coming weeks, ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.

The network, citing U.S. officials, added that discussions had covered Washington’s strategy toward Iran and the Houthis, as military and diplomatic options continued to be explored.

In the diplomatic track, a U.S. official told NBC that Washington and Tehran had discussed Iran’s nuclear program in New York, as part of indirect negotiations between the two sides.

He explained that the U.S. administration was seeking to reach an agreement with Iran addressing the core outstanding issues, foremost among them Iran’s nuclear program.
