The General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Security Control Department, arrested two suspects in two separate incidents in the Jahra region for riding bicycles in unauthorized areas, thereby endangering their own safety and that of other road users.
In a statement today, the Directorate said that in the first incident, a patrol spotted a suspect recklessly riding a bicycle in an area not designated for such use. When stopped, the suspect attempted to flee and collided with the patrol vehicle before being apprehended.
It added that another patrol spotted a suspect in the second incident recklessly riding a bicycle in an unauthorized area and successfully arrested him.
The Directorate clarified that traffic violation tickets were issued against both suspects for operating vehicles in unauthorized areas, reckless driving, and endangering public safety. Additionally, a violation for failing to comply with stop orders or fleeing was issued against the first suspect, who was referred to the Central Prison. The second suspect, being a minor, was referred to the Juvenile Protection Department, and both bicycles were confiscated.
The General Directorate of Traffic warned bicycle riders against endangering their own safety and that of other road users, emphasizing that such behaviors and failure to comply with police orders will be met with strict enforcement of the law.
