Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of his tour, Al-Murrouq noted that participation in such exhibitions helps highlight Kuwaiti products, showcase their quality and diversity, and strengthen their presence in various markets.

He praised the Kingdom of Bahrain for the excellent organization of the forum and its accompanying exhibition, expressing his appreciation for the efforts made to showcase Gulf products and industries and enhance communication among the various industrial sectors in GCC member states.

The Public Authority for Industry is participating in the exhibition accompanying the forum, which is held under the patronage of Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and attended by Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The participation features the Kuwaiti pavilion, with 14 Kuwaiti factories representing a range of diverse industrial sectors and activities.

The pavilion showcases a selection of national products and Kuwaiti industries, highlighting the quality and diversity of Kuwaiti industrial output and its competitiveness in Gulf and regional markets.

During the 71st meeting of the Commerce Ministers of the GCC countries, participants discussed several topics related to enhancing trade and economic integration among GCC member states, contributing to sustainable development, improving the business environment, and boosting intra-Gulf trade.

Kuwait’s participation in the meeting aligns with its commitment to supporting the progress of joint Gulf efforts and enhancing economic integration and coordination among member states in trade and economic fields.

The meeting addressed updates on the study to strengthen Gulf integration in strategic sectors, including the establishment of Gulf strategic storage zones for food, pharmaceuticals, and other necessities. It also covered updates on free trade agreement negotiations with international countries and economic blocs, as well as the implementation of decisions from the Supreme Council and resolutions issued by the Trade Cooperation Committee.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the work of the Investment Undersecretaries Committee of the GCC member states, updates on commercial laws and unified regulations governing e-commerce and digital trade in the GCC, the GCC Consumer Protection Law (“Nizam”), and matters related to the Patent Office within the General Secretariat.

The meeting also explored ways to enhance coordination between the Consumer Protection Committee, the Gulf Standardization Organization, and relevant national authorities, aiming to activate the role of consumer protection agencies on the “Ajel” platform, monitor Gulf conformity certificates, and implement the action plan of the GCC Consumer Protection Committee.

The meeting discussed the action plan of the Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises and Entrepreneurship for the period from 2027 to 2030, as well as updates on the study examining the reasons for the limited expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises in GCC countries. It also reviewed the work of the committees under the Trade Cooperation Committee, including the committees on small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship, internal trade, consumer protection, and foreign trade.
