The Yemeni Embassy in Kuwait confirmed that the comprehensive military operation “Fajr al-Yemen” was launched in implementation of a decision by the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, with full backing from the brothers in the Coalition for Legitimacy Support. It noted that this strategic operation represents a decisive turning point toward restoring state institutions and extending national sovereignty over the entire Yemeni territory, and ending the prolonged suffering of the Yemeni people caused by Houthi intransigence.
In a press statement, the embassy said that the decision to launch the military operation came after the state had exhausted all political, regional, and international diplomatic opportunities and efforts to achieve peace. The Houthi coup militias continued their reckless military escalation and constant threats to international shipping lanes and neighboring countries. It emphasized that the option of military resolution had become inevitable to protect the Yemeni people’s assets and safeguard Arab national security.
Regarding the strategic objectives of the operation, the embassy stated that they include: ending the coup and restoring state institutions; extending the authority of the legitimate government over all Yemeni governorates, starting with the hostage-held capital, Sana’a; securing international waterways by protecting the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea from Houthi terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of global trade; and destroying the militias’ military capabilities by paralyzing offensive defense systems, drone fleets, missile launchers, and explosive-laden boat depots.
Regarding the field situation and military achievements, the embassy stated that the Yemeni Armed Forces and joint forces achieved rapid and simultaneous field accomplishments during the first 24 hours of the operation’s launch. On the western coast axis, full control was established over the Dhobab directorate and its military airport, securing Miun (Perim) Island, Al-Amri Camp, and Kebob Mountains, thereby ensuring complete security of the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait. In the city and port of Al-Mukha, a distinctive tactical flanking operation successfully liberated the city and port entirely and cut enemy supply lines. On the Sana’a front, a comprehensive strategic offensive backed by advanced military systems began advancing into the depth of the capital.
Regarding the fronts in Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hajjah, the embassy noted that forces participating in the operation gained control over the Al-Nadir and Al-Haseef areas (Al-Jawf) and the Al-Faliha and Qurun al-Bur areas (southern Marib), and delivered crushing strikes against militias in Haraz.
It confirmed that the operation was conducted under intensive air cover, with 100 fighter jets from the Coalition for Legitimacy Support targeting 324 strategic objectives and high-value military sites belonging to the militias. The airstrikes and land and sea operations resulted in neutralizing 1,747 Houthi militants (killed or wounded), destroying or damaging 364 military vehicles and equipment, capturing large numbers of militia elements besieged in Dhobab, and forcing others to flee by sea.
The embassy added that it seizes the opportunity to once again express its profound appreciation and gratitude to the Republic of Yemen, its leadership, government, and people, for the steadfast and noble fraternal positions of sisterly Kuwait, its Amir, government, and people, and for its continuous support of the Yemeni people through various stages and circumstances. It emphasized that this support reflects the depth of the historical relations and shared destiny between the two sister countries in the face of challenges threatening regional security and stability.
The embassy expressed its full confidence that the Kuwaiti media and press, known for their professionalism and Arab responsibility, will, as is their custom, serve as an honest voice and a pillar in highlighting these national victories, which serve the interests of Gulf and Arab national security as a whole.
