- 1,080 Thais consider Kuwait their second home and are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti leadership to ensure their safety.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Kuwait, Songchai Chaipatiewit, expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the leadership of the State of Kuwait, for the friendship and support shown to Thailand and its embassy. He emphasized that the relations between the two countries, which span more than 63 years, continue to grow and develop.
The ambassador, in a speech delivered during a farewell event he hosted for media representatives, noted that the previous month witnessed visits by two high-level Thai delegations to Kuwait. The first was led by the advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the second by the Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who participated in the co-chairmanship of the second round of political consultations between Thailand and Kuwait. He considered that the visit of two high-level Thai delegations within a single week reflects the high importance his country attaches to its relations with Kuwait.

He added that the two countries are also working to establish a joint committee chaired by the foreign ministers, expressing hope that the agreement will be signed soon, thereby providing a stronger framework to advance bilateral cooperation.
He noted that several senior Kuwaiti officials and figures will visit Thailand later this month to participate in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, scheduled to be held in Bangkok from October 12 to 18.
He also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Kuwaiti leadership in safeguarding the safety of citizens and residents, pointing out that this means a great deal to approximately 1,080 Thai nationals who consider Kuwait their second home.
The ambassador said, “My stay here has been short, but Kuwait has made me feel as if I am in my own country.”
He clarified that relations between countries are also built through peoples—individuals who travel, study, conduct business, and form friendships. He noted that media work conveys these connections to a broader audience and contributes to building trust and mutual understanding.
The ambassador indicated that he will soon return to Bangkok to assume the position of Director-General of the Treaties and Legal Affairs Department at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He pointed out that his future work will focus more on legal matters and that he has much work ahead of him.
