Saudi Arabia: We Will Take All Necessary Measures to Defend Our Territory and Sovereignty Against Houthi Militia Attacks

- Condemnation of the targeting of Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, and other cities in the Kingdom, as well as its ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait.

- Full political and military support for the Yemeni government to end the terrorist militia’s coup and restore the state.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and rejection of the continued targeting by the Houthi terrorist militia of civilians and civilian and economic assets in the Kingdom, including repeated attacks on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as the capital Riyadh and the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu. It also condemned the targeting of Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait.

In a statement, the ministry said that since the Houthi terrorist militia’s coup against the legitimate Yemeni government in 2014, the Kingdom has made persistent and continuous efforts to support the achievement of a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen. However, the militia, continuing its rejection of peace, has opted to escalate militarily, dragging Yemen and the Yemeni people into further humanitarian and economic suffering in service of external agendas.

The Kingdom affirmed its inherent right to defend its territory, resources, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents, and to take all necessary measures to protect its security in accordance with international law. It reiterated its full political and military support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the Yemeni people to end the coup and restore the state and its institutions from the Houthi terrorist militia.

The Kingdom renewed its call on the international community, particularly the permanent members of the UN Security Council, to fulfill their responsibilities, implement relevant Security Council resolutions, and provide full support to the legitimate Yemeni government in confronting the Houthi terrorist militia and halting its threat to Yemen, the region, and the world.
