State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, and State Minister for Communications and Information Technology, along with Acting Minister of Media and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, announced today, Monday, the National Digital Platform for Livestock. This initiative is part of the state’s efforts to develop the livestock sector and promote digital transformation in sectors linked to food security.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Faleh said the project represents an important national step toward building an integrated digital system for managing livestock in the State of Kuwait, thereby enhancing food security, improving resource management efficiency, and consolidating principles of governance and sustainability.
The platform aims to transition from fragmented procedures and data to a unified, reliable national digital database for livestock. This will contribute to developing services provided to breeders, enhancing oversight, improving animal health, and strengthening the tracking system and food safety.
She clarified that the project is based on five main objectives: serving breeders, governing subsidies, enhancing livestock health, ensuring tracking and food safety, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Al-Faleh emphasized that leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics within the platform will enable a more accurate assessment of the livestock sector and its indicators. This will help improve the efficiency of directing subsidies to eligible recipients, strengthen oversight, protect public funds, and provide reliable data that supports national planning and policies related to food security.
She stated that “digital transformation is not an end in itself, but a tool to develop government work, enhance its efficiency, and promote transparency and governance.” She added that the success of the platform will be measured by its actual achievement of better services for breeders, more accurate data, more efficient oversight, and sustainable livestock management.
In this regard, Al-Faleh appreciated the cooperation and support provided by State Minister for Communications and Information Technology Omar Al-Omar and the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) to the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources in the digital transformation journey. She affirmed that this integration among government entities represents a model of institutional partnership in implementing national digital projects.
For his part, Al-Omar said in a similar statement to KUNA that the project aligns with the state’s direction toward digital transformation and the integration of government services. He confirmed that CAIT will deploy its technical expertise to support the implementation of the platform and connect it with relevant government entities in accordance with approved national information security standards.
Al-Omar added that the project serves as a model of cooperation among government entities in utilizing modern technologies to develop services and enhance performance efficiency.
The announcement of the project comes within the context of Kuwait’s efforts to strengthen the food security system, consolidate sustainability and governance in the management of national resources, and leverage digital transformation to develop vital sectors and improve the efficiency of government services.
