The seminar featured the participation of Dr. Ahd Al-Hajjari, Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching Methods at the College of Education, Kuwait University, and Dr. Reem Al-Tamimi, Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the College of Basic Education. They addressed the teacher’s role amid rapid digital transformations, the relationship between education and artificial intelligence, and the requirements for preparing teachers to keep pace with modern developments.
Ambassador Abu Al-Wafa emphasized that honoring teachers represents an appreciation of their noble mission and pivotal role in building human beings and shaping the future of nations. He noted that rapid advancements in technology and artificial intelligence have brought about fundamental changes in educational tools and methods of acquiring knowledge; however, these developments have not diminished the importance of the teacher’s role, but rather increased their responsibilities and solidified their status.
He clarified that the teacher’s role is no longer limited to transmitting knowledge and explaining content, but has evolved into becoming a key partner in shaping students’ personalities, developing their critical thinking, creativity, and innovation skills, and enhancing their awareness and ability to engage with modern technology consciously and responsibly.
Abu Al-Wafa stressed that, regardless of how tools and methods evolve, the teacher remains the cornerstone of the educational process, capable of transforming knowledge into value, information into awareness, and technology into a tool for construction and development. He affirmed that investing in teachers is, in essence, an investment in human capital and the future of societies.
He expressed his appreciation for Kuwait for its keen interest in the education sector and its commitment to developing its educational system, elevating the status of teachers, and enhancing their professional and pedagogical capabilities. He praised the role of Kuwaiti academic and educational institutions in preparing and qualifying educational cadres and keeping pace with developments in the fields of education and pedagogy.
For her part, Egyptian Cultural Attaché Dr. Amira Abu Al-Makarim affirmed that technological advancement and artificial intelligence are tools that can enhance teachers’ performance and expand their capabilities. However, the core of the educational process remains tied to the human role of the teacher, their ability to understand their students, shape their personalities, and develop their awareness and values.
She emphasized the importance of developing teacher preparation and continuous professional training to keep pace with rapid changes in educational tools and learners’ needs. She commended the State of Kuwait for its focus on preparing teachers and connecting them with society from the initial preparation stage, as well as for providing initiatives and platforms for community participation and volunteering.
The seminar witnessed notable interaction from the attendees, particularly Kuwait University students, who contributed with several interventions and questions, enriching the discussion and opening a space for dialogue on the current state and future of the teaching profession, and the role of teachers in leveraging modern technological tools to serve the educational process.
