US Coast Guard finds wreckage of missing medical plane off Massachusetts

The U.S. Coast Guard announced the discovery of wreckage from a missing medical evacuation plane off the coast of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, as search efforts continue for the six people on board.

The aircraft, a Gulfstream G100 registered in Canada, disappeared early Saturday morning during a flight from Bermuda to Boston. On board were four Canadians and two Bermudian citizens. The Coast Guard confirmed that the wreckage site found by search teams is linked to the missing plane, and the relatives of the six individuals have been notified.

The Coast Guard stated that one of its vessels continued search operations in the waters throughout the night and into Sunday, while aircraft, helicopters, and rescue ships are participating in the search off Nantucket.

According to U.S. reports, the pilot lost contact with air traffic control after reporting electrical problems and declaring an emergency. Flight tracking data showed the plane descending sharply from an altitude of approximately 24,000 feet to about 10,000 feet before disappearing.
