The Public Prosecutor: The Co-Pilot Attempted to Take Control of the Plane... and Used the “Emergency Axe” to Assault His Commander

The UAE Public Prosecutor, Advisor Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, announced on Saturday that investigations into the Flydubai flight incident revealed that the co-pilot began executing a “terrorist operation.”

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted him as saying that the co-pilot “carried out his plan during the flight, assaulting the captain inside the cockpit using the emergency axe, and attempting to take control of the aircraft’s controls.”

The Public Prosecutor confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to uncover all the circumstances, motives, and connections related to the incident, alongside completing technical examinations and inspecting physical and digital evidence. Final results will be announced as soon as the necessary procedures are completed, according to the agency.
