Widespread Arab and Islamic Condemnation of Houthi Militia's Targeting of Power Station Serving the Noble Prophet's Mosque
- Reaffirming full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and rejecting any infringement on its sovereignty, security, and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.
Arab and Islamic condemnations followed the attack carried out by the Houthi militia using a drone, which targeted the "Tayba" electricity distribution station in Medina, which provides electrical services to the Prophet’s Mosque. This came amid reaffirmations of solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a rejection of any infringement on its sovereignty, security, stability, and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.
Lebanon, on Friday, strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of an electricity distribution station in Medina, which caused the failure of a transformer supplying power to the Prophet’s Mosque.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated in a press release that the attack on vital and civilian facilities constitutes “a serious escalation and a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as an infringement on the sovereignty and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a threat to stability in the region.”
It reaffirmed Lebanon’s firm rejection of any targeting of the Kingdom’s territory and facilities, expressing its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its standing by its side in facing all threats to its security and sovereignty.
In the same context, the Republic of Yemen strongly condemned on Friday the Houthi militia’s drone attack targeting an electricity distribution station serving the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the attack represents a violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the sanctity of Medina, and an affront to the feelings of Muslims worldwide. It considered the attack an extension of attempts to target Mecca and a series of recent attacks on Riyadh, Taif, and other Saudi cities.
It added that targeting a civilian facility serving the Prophet’s Mosque, along with the continuous targeting of residential neighborhoods, civilians, and service facilities in Taiz and other Yemeni governorates, represents a single approach in dealing with the sanctity of God’s houses and civilian lives.
Yemen reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, both leadership and people, and its support for the measures taken to protect its security and sovereignty, as well as the procedures announced by the leadership of the Joint Forces of the Coalition for Legitimacy to deter the Houthis and protect the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of the guests of Allah.
It called on Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to take a firm and unified stance against the Houthi militia, enforce the arms embargo, cut off sources of its arming, financing, and support, and assist the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions and reasserting its sovereignty over its entire territory, monopolizing weapons in its hands.
Mauritania also strongly condemned on Friday the targeting of the “Tayba” station in Medina, expressing its profound outrage at what it represents as an infringement on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.
The Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its solidarity and support for Saudi Arabia, and its firm rejection of all acts targeting the security and stability of the Kingdom, renewing its full support for all efforts aimed at safeguarding regional security and the safety of the guests of Allah.
Turkey had previously strongly condemned the Houthi attack on civilian infrastructure serving the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, calling for an immediate and unconditional halt to the attacks, which it described as provocative, threatening Saudi sovereignty and security, and targeting Islamic holy sites.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its strong support for Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the necessity of avoiding steps that could escalate tensions in the region.
Egypt also expressed its strong condemnation of the attack, emphasizing its rejection of the continued assaults and attempts to undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom, which represent a serious escalation that heightens tensions in the region.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed its firm rejection of any attempts to infringe upon Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty, expressing full solidarity with any measures taken to preserve its stability and integrity. It affirmed that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Arab national security and is closely intertwined with Egyptian national security.
The Arab League condemned the attack, stressing that targeting a power station serving the Noble Prophet’s Mosque constitutes an unacceptable transgression and reckless disregard for the sanctity of holy sites and the integrity of civilian infrastructure. It also noted that the attack provokes the feelings of Muslims worldwide and represents a serious escalation.
The League reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support in the face of any aggression targeting the Kingdom’s security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
For its part, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned and denounced the Houthi attack on the “Taybah” power station, asserting that targeting vital assets and infrastructure in Medina constitutes a serious escalation and a blatant violation of the sanctity of holy sites, as well as all international and humanitarian laws and norms.
The Organization emphasized its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to protect its territory, safeguard its security and stability, defend Islamic holy sites, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
