UK Body: Oil Tanker Attacked in Strait of Hormuz by Unknown Projectile, Fire Breaks Out Aboard
A British maritime security authority announced on Thursday that an oil tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire on board.
The Maritime Operations Authority confirmed in a statement on its official website that it had received an official report of an unidentified oil tanker being struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in a fire.
It noted that information indicated the tanker’s crew had not been harmed, but the extent of material damage to the vessel or environmental damage remained unknown.
