Al-Habshi praised the cooperation of media outlets with the governorate and their coverage of its various activities and events, stressing the importance of this collaboration in monitoring service projects and conveying a clear picture to citizens regarding the level of achievement. In return, it serves to convey their observations and opinions to governorate officials.
Diverse Roles
Al-Habshi emphasized the necessity of continuous coordination and communication between governorates and all relevant authorities to monitor citizens’ affairs and area services. He noted that some files may occasionally face routine procedures within government agencies and departments; however, cooperation and concerted efforts contribute to overcoming these hurdles and reaching solutions that serve the public interest. He clarified that Al-Jahra Governorate has established committees comprising relevant authorities, which hold continuous coordination meetings to discuss files and issues of concern to the governorate, monitor its service needs, and work on removing obstacles in collaboration with competent authorities.
Citizen as a Partner
The governor affirmed that citizens are a fundamental partner in realizing the governorate’s vision. He stated that achieving desired goals does not rest solely on government bodies but requires cooperation from residents, a commitment to serving their areas, preserving their facilities, and caring for their cleanliness and overall aesthetic appearance. He confirmed that citizen cooperation with government agencies is the primary factor in achieving these objectives.
During the meeting, Al-Habshi outlined the importance of Al-Jahra Governorate and its historical and social significance, highlighting its development stages and the successive governors who have led it over decades. He noted that the governorate has witnessed urban and population expansion, which has correspondingly increased its service needs. He explained that the nature of Al-Jahra, its vast area, and its multiple districts impose increasing responsibilities on the governorate, necessitating continued coordination, monitoring, and joint work with relevant government agencies.
Governors’ Authorities
For his part, Al-Jarallah thanked Governor Al-Habshi for the comprehensive briefing on the nature of the governor’s work. He commended the personal role played by the governor and the constructive efforts made by the governorate’s departments in general to monitor citizens’ affairs and areas, particularly regarding cleanliness, the environment, aesthetic aspects, and services that impact people’s daily lives.
In this context, Al-Jarallah pointed to local administration experiences in several countries, where governors enjoy broader authorities in monitoring their areas, including roads, buildings, public appearance, service, and regulatory aspects. This grants governors greater capacity to make decisions and address problems directly. Al-Jarallah affirmed that enhancing the role of governorates and expanding the scope of coordination between them and executive agencies would contribute to faster resolution of local issues and area development, especially since the governor is the most informed about residents’ needs and the daily challenges faced by the areas.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the governorate and the media, in order to enhance ongoing communication with citizens, highlight their issues and needs, and support efforts aimed at developing Al-Jahra Governorate and improving its services.
