Al-Jahra Hospital launched Kuwait’s first specialized training initiative of its kind as part of its program for caring for children with complex medical conditions, aiming to empower parents and caregivers with the practical skills needed to safely care for their children at home and to enhance their readiness for the transition from hospital to home care.

The Complex Pediatric Care Unit, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Jafar, is implementing the initiative through a structured training program that includes training modules, competency assessments for each skill, and supporting educational materials and videos.

The training covers the use of medical devices and equipment, as well as handling emergencies, and provides families with specialized emergency kits for tracheostomy and feeding tubes.

The program team expressed its gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Al-Mutairi, Head of the Pediatrics Department, for his support and facilitation of the initiative. It also acknowledged the cooperation of Dr. Ahmed Khajah, Director of the Al-Jahra Health Region and Al-Jahra Hospital, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shamari, Head of the Medical Board, in facilitating the launch.

This initiative aligns with the program’s efforts to strengthen the role of the family as a key partner in the care of children with complex medical conditions, and to support the child’s transition home in a manner that addresses their health needs.
