Traffic Department: 28,457 violations issued, 101 wanted individuals and residency violators apprehended

- 257 vehicles and 5 motorcycles impounded, and 1,652 traffic incidents handled during the week

The General Directorate of Traffic continued its intensive traffic campaigns across various governorates from September 21 to 27, 2026, as part of its efforts to enhance road safety, enforce violations, and maintain smooth traffic flow.

In a statement, the Directorate of Traffic said the campaigns resulted in issuing 28,457 diverse traffic violations, handling 2,846 traffic reports, apprehending 53 individuals wanted by relevant authorities, and 48 individuals whose residency permits had expired.

It added that 21 wanted vehicles were seized, two cases were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution, and 44 individuals were detained at traffic police stations, with necessary legal actions taken against violators.

The Directorate clarified that the efforts included impounding 257 vehicles and 5 motorcycles, as part of ongoing campaigns to crack down on violating vehicles and enforce traffic laws uniformly.

It noted that traffic teams handled 1,426 collision incidents, in addition to 226 collision-and-injury incidents, taking necessary measures at accident sites and managing traffic flow.

The General Directorate of Traffic affirmed the continuation of its field campaigns across various governorates and the tightening of road surveillance, contributing to reducing violations and accidents and enhancing the safety of all road users.
