Customs inspectors at the Salima border crossing foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and 28 cartons of cigarettes inside a vehicle as it was leaving the country, following suspicions that led to its inspection and thorough customs examination.
In a statement, customs authorities said the search yielded three tablets of Captagon and a strip of Larica pills, tightly concealed, along with a solid powdery substance suspected to be either methamphetamine (shabu) or “chemical,” pending further testing to determine its exact nature.
Inspectors also discovered 28 cartons of cigarettes hidden in various parts of the vehicle.
Security and commercial seizure reports were drawn up, the vehicle was impounded, and the suspect and confiscated items were referred to the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics to take the necessary legal action.
