The Ministry of Public Works announced yesterday, via the official newspaper “Kuwait Today,” a contract for the construction, completion, and maintenance of roads, services, vehicle bridges, and pedestrian bridges in the Kabd area, with an implementation period of 36 months. The tender will be issued through the Central Tenders Committee.

The project aims to directly benefit several areas: the South Saad Al-Abdullah City project, the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak City project, and the Shaddadiya Industrial City project. This will be achieved by ensuring smooth traffic flow, facilitating mobility for residents of adjacent areas, and connecting them to industrial cities (Shaddadiya Industrial City).

Through the implementation of this project, the Ministry seeks to increase the capacity of the bridges and surrounding roads to accommodate vehicles, manage traffic density, and introduce new stormwater drainage services. These measures will reduce asphalt deterioration caused by water accumulation on roads and prevent future flash floods. Additionally, the project aims to upgrade existing roads and services serving farms, sewage treatment stations, oil and water well areas, and industrial zones.

The Ministry has defined the project’s scope, which includes completing the route of Circular Road 6.5 from Kabd Al-Salibiyah Road to Al-Salmi Road, as well as connecting the area to surrounding main alternative roads (the 6th and 7th Circular Roads and Al-Salmi Road) to facilitate traffic movement to and from the area.

Meanwhile, the Central Tenders Committee recently decided to postpone the tender submission date for the project to prepare studies, design, and supervise the implementation of the main headquarters of the General Authority for Food to October 13 next year, instead of the originally scheduled date of Sunday, September 27.
