Vietnam Ambassador: We look forward to increasing trade with Kuwait to $12 billion by 2030

He affirmed that Kuwait is the largest Middle Eastern investor in his country.

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang, affirmed that his country aims to raise bilateral trade volume with Kuwait to $12 billion by 2030, noting that both countries have broad opportunities to enhance cooperation in the energy, food security, digital transformation, finance, logistics, education, and tourism sectors.

This came during a speech delivered at the embassy’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Kuwait, and the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Al-Mushaan, along with several ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of government entities, companies, and members of the Vietnamese community.

The ambassador stated that Kuwait was the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in January 1976, emphasizing that his country takes pride in Kuwait’s supportive stance toward the Vietnamese people during the war years, and in its contribution to reconstruction and development efforts following the establishment of peace.

He expressed his appreciation for the loans provided by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to support infrastructure and socio-economic development projects in several Vietnamese provinces, as well as Kuwait’s donation of 600,000 vaccine doses during the “COVID-19” pandemic, considering these actions to embody a friendship cemented by deeds over half a century.

He added that Kuwait is Vietnam’s largest trade partner in the Middle East and Africa, with annual bilateral trade volume between the two countries ranging between $7 billion and $7.5 billion over the past three years.
