Arab League: Repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia constitute an extremely dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the Kingdom's security

The Arab League condemned, on Friday, the Houthi militia’s launch of ballistic missiles toward several cities and areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Arab League said that the repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi territory constitute a highly dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the Kingdom’s security and stability. It affirmed its solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for taking whatever measures it deems necessary to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.

The League stressed that the continued Houthi escalation in the region undermines the prospects for reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and hinders the creation of favorable conditions for resuming the political process.

It renewed its support for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the agreed-upon references and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, in a manner that safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
