Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraih Al-Jaber affirmed that the Palestinian cause no longer requires further diagnosis, but rather the will and implementation. He stressed the necessity of translating international will into practical steps that end the occupation and realize an independent Palestinian state, while continuing to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and enabling it to fulfill its mandate.

These remarks were made during Sheikh Jeraih Al-Jaber’s participation, on Thursday, in two ministerial meetings held at United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
At the high-level ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for Implementing the Two-State Solution, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Norway, and the European Union, the Foreign Minister affirmed that international legitimacy resolutions and the New York Declaration have established a clear framework for ending the occupation and realizing an independent Palestinian state.
He stressed that justice cannot be selective, and that the continuation of the occupation, settlement expansion, and attempts to alter the geographical and demographic reality undermine the two-state solution and put the credibility of the international system to a real test.
He emphasized the need to move from managing the conflict to ending it and establishing a sovereign independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, and to support Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
He also stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and supporting efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, thereby paving a reliable path toward self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He reiterated Kuwait’s historic and steadfast position regarding the Palestinian cause and its support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
At a separate ministerial meeting to support UNRWA, organized by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Spain, and the Federative Republic of Brazil, Sheikh Jeraih Al-Jaber affirmed that Kuwait’s support for the agency represents a humanitarian responsibility and a political commitment to the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people. He pointed to the expertise, presence, and institutional and operational capabilities the agency has accumulated over more than seven decades.
He noted Kuwait’s commitment to continuing its political and financial support for the agency, in addition to the humanitarian aid it provides to the Palestinian people, which contributes to enabling UNRWA to continue performing its mandate and providing services to Palestinian refugees.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of providing sustainable and adequate funding for the agency, protecting its mandate, and ensuring its ability to operate effectively. He affirmed that there is no alternative to UNRWA, given its expertise, capabilities, and the trust it enjoys among Palestinian refugees, and that supporting it is a collective responsibility until a just solution to the Palestinian cause is reached and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are realized.
