The head of the African diplomatic corps in Kuwait, Comoros Ambassador Dr. Al-Arif Said Hassan, hosted a farewell reception the night before last for Malawi Ambassador Yoonus Abdulkarim and Tanzania Ambassador Saaid Hussein Msoro, marking the end of their missions in Kuwait. The event was attended by Khalid Al-Wazan, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs; Ahmad Shinar Al-Bukhait, Counselor and Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs; along with several heads of missions, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Dr. Al-Arif expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by the two ambassadors during their tenure, praising their professionalism and their role in strengthening their respective countries' relations with Kuwait, as well as their participation in the activities of the African diplomatic corps. He stated that they "contributed to building bridges of cooperation and brotherhood, and participated in the political, cultural, media, social, and sporting events of the corps, most notably the annual Africa Day celebration." He noted that Ambassador Abdulkarim chaired the organizing committee for the 2025 celebration, while Msoro served on the organizing committee for the 2026 event.

Dr. Al-Arif affirmed that the departure of the two ambassadors does not end the friendships they have built with their colleagues. He wished them success in their future endeavors and expressed his gratitude to "Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people; the host country and hub of humanitarian work." He also commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its cooperation with diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as the facilitations provided to enable them to fulfill their duties.

Msoro: We worked as one team

For his part, departing Tanzanian Ambassador Saaid Hussein Msoro stated that "the friendship and support I received during my stay have made Kuwait my second home." He praised the spirit of cooperation and unity among African ambassadors and their work as a cohesive team.

Speaking about the upcoming Africa-Kuwait Conference, Ambassador Msoro called for leveraging the occasion to highlight the continent's potential, strengthen African-Kuwaiti relations, and encourage Kuwaitis to visit African countries, thereby developing trade, investment, and tourism sectors.

He concluded by saying: "I am leaving Kuwait carrying cherished memories and friendships, including those with my teammates on the football team from the African diplomatic corps."

In turn, Malawi Ambassador Yoonus Abdulkarim expressed his gratitude to his colleagues as his four-year and five-month tenure comes to an end. He praised the spirit of friendship, solidarity, and African unity that has bound the ambassadors in Kuwait. He also commended the support of Kuwait, its leadership, government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, institutions, and officials with whom he has cooperated. He noted that their joint efforts have reinforced the ambassadors' responsibility to strengthen ties between Africa and Kuwait.

The Malawi Ambassador concluded by saying: "I may be leaving Kuwait, but I will certainly not leave the friendships I have formed here... I wish Kuwait enduring peace, stability, and prosperity, and Africa greater unity and development."
