Kuwait-Iraq meeting to enhance security and military cooperation and information exchange
- Discussing the development of media coordination to counter rumors and accelerate response to events and developments
A joint meeting was held on Thursday between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides, attended by several security and military leaders from the two brotherly countries, within the framework of enhancing cooperation and coordination and exchanging experiences in areas of mutual interest.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release on Thursday that this came during the Kuwaiti side’s reception of Major General Dr. Saad Mu’in, Head of the Security Media Cell of the sister Republic of Iraq, where the depth of the brotherly relations between Kuwait and Iraq and the commitment to continue developing frameworks of cooperation and coordination between the competent authorities in both countries were affirmed.
The statement added that several common topics and axes were discussed, foremost among them enhancing “security and military media cooperation” and developing coordination mechanisms to highlight efforts and exchange information.
The meeting also addressed ways to enhance media coordination in countering rumors and limiting their spread, through rapid monitoring, response, and handling, in addition to strengthening direct communication channels between the competent authorities in both countries to achieve swift responsiveness to events and developments.
Both sides affirmed the importance of continuing coordination, exchanging experiences, and highlighting the joint efforts of the security and military institutions in the State of Kuwait and the sister Republic of Iraq, thereby strengthening the system of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The Kuwaiti side included Major General Majbal Al-Rashidi, Head of the Border Security and Coast Guard Sector; Colonel Nasser Al-Busaylib, Director General of the General Directorate of Security and Media Relations; and Colonel Rakan Saud Al-Atwan, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, along with several security and military leaders.
The Iraqi side included Major General Dr. Saad Mu’in, Head of the Security Media Cell; Sabah Al-Nu’mani, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; and several security leaders.
