Kuwait University Ranks Among Top Arab and Gulf Universities in Clinical Medicine in Shanghai Ranking 2026

Kuwait University announced its continued presence in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for 2026, with the Clinical Medicine discipline ranked in the global 201–300 band, placing it in the highest category achieved by Arab and Gulf universities in this field.

In a press statement issued on Thursday evening, the University stated that the ranking placed Kuwait University in the same category as the top-ranked Arab and Gulf universities in Clinical Medicine, reflecting its research presence in one of the internationally competitive medical disciplines.

The University added that the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects includes approximately 2,000 universities from around 100 countries worldwide, while the Clinical Medicine ranking encompasses 500 globally ranked academic institutions, underscoring the level of international competition in academic and research fields.

It explained that the detailed indicator results demonstrated the University’s research presence in the Citation Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) indicator, alongside indicators for international collaboration, scientific outputs, and world-class faculty members.

The University affirmed that this result aligns with Kuwait University’s strategic directions aimed at enhancing the quality of scientific research, strengthening its distinguished regional and international presence, expanding research cooperation and partnerships, and encouraging scientific publication in prestigious journals.

The University emphasized its commitment to continuously developing its research system and fostering a supportive environment for researchers, thereby contributing to improving the quality of scientific output and enhancing its impact and role in serving society and supporting development in the State of Kuwait.
