Trump around the clock... White House launches 'Trump TV'

In a move that shifts the White House’s messaging from conferences and press releases to a 24/7 broadcast screen, the U.S. administration launched a new platform called "Trump TV" to air events and occasions related to President Donald Trump’s administration around the clock, seven days a week.

According to the White House, the platform consolidates key past moments, announcements, and the latest updates from the administration in one place. In a post on social media, it noted that some significant moments had not previously reached viewers’ screens, and that the new platform would make them available.

The launch of "Trump TV" comes after the administration banned CNN, MS Now, and Politico, revoking their press credentials and barring their reporters from entering the White House. Trump accused the three outlets of continuing to publish what he described as "fake news."

The timing of the platform’s launch, coinciding with the ban on the three media organizations, drew criticism. Critics attacked what they described as a "state-run" television platform, amid escalating tensions between the Trump administration and several U.S. media outlets.

The promotional video for "Trump TV" also raised questions, as it used clips from popular television series, including "Seinfeld," "Breaking Bad," "Family Guy," "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Parks and Recreation," "Friends," and "The Simpsons," as well as the films "Home Alone" and "The Dark Knight."

The phrase "Trump TV" appeared repeatedly on screen, set to the song "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles.

The use of these clips reopened questions about copyright, particularly since the materials originate from works associated with major studios and networks, including Warner Bros., Fox, Sony Pictures Television, and Disney. It remains unclear whether the administration obtained licenses to use all the materials included in the promotional clip.

Trump has previously faced objections from musicians over the use of their works in materials and campaigns associated with him. The launch of "Trump TV" has reignited debate over the use of artistic works in media and promotional materials issued by the White House.
