Al-Dawood appointed head of the Arab Tourism Media, with Kuwaiti Al-Ali as vice president for Asia

Ben Attia Elected Vice President for Africa; Lamea Mahmoud Appointed Secretary-General for the 2026–2028 Term

The board of directors of the Arab Union of Tourism Media, based in Jordan, selected Awani Al-Dawood as president for the 2026–2028 term. Kuwaiti Aymen Al-Ali was elected vice president for Asia, while Tunisia’s Leila Ben Attia Allah was elected vice president for Africa.

The new executive committee was formed following the completion of the board of directors elections and the ratification of the results by the general assembly, on the sidelines of the Arab Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, with participation from tourism media representatives from 15 Arab countries.

Following his election, Al-Ali affirmed that the coming phase will see a strengthened presence of Arab tourism media in Asia, along with expanded cooperation among relevant tourism and media entities. This will help promote Arab tourism assets and destinations and reach new segments of Asian markets.

He noted that Asia represents a vast and diverse tourism market, offering significant opportunities for Arab countries to enhance their presence and promote their destinations. He emphasized the importance of developing Arab tourism content and leveraging digital platforms to build new bridges between Arab and Asian markets.

Al-Ali added that the union will work during its new term to expand the cooperation network among tourism and media professionals, facilitate the exchange of expertise, develop training and capacity-building programs, and launch media initiatives that support the growth of Arab tourism.

The executive committee also includes Dr. Lamea Mahmoud from Egypt as the union’s secretary-general, alongside members from several Arab countries.
