Kuwait participates in high-level UN event to protect children's rights in the age of artificial intelligence

On Tuesday, Assistant Undersecretary for International Organizations Affairs Ambassador Sadiq Ma’arfi participated in a high-level event on protecting children’s rights in the age of artificial intelligence, held at United Nations headquarters on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The discussions focused on safeguarding children from risks associated with artificial intelligence and ensuring their rights and safety are respected amid the expanding use of these technologies.

The event addressed the roles of governments, international organizations, and technology companies in creating a safer digital environment for children, as well as ways to enhance international cooperation in this field. It concluded with a discussion of next steps and the presentation of the roadmap of the Coalition for Protecting Children in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

The event was co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, Kenyan President William Ruto, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, with participation from several senior United Nations officials, representatives of the technology sector, and civil society.
