The technical committee of the Municipal Council approved, during its meeting yesterday, the Ministry of Health’s request to allocate a site for the construction of a multiple sclerosis treatment center in the Granada area, within the Salwa Coast zone, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, with the creation of a new entrance and exit for the site.

Committee Chairperson Munira Al-Amir stated that the approval to allocate the site is in implementation of the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision, which approved accepting a donation from the Kuwait Finance House to establish a multiple sclerosis treatment center and tasked the Kuwait Municipality with taking the necessary procedures to allocate a site for the Ministry of Health, paving the way for the donor entity to establish the center.

She added that the relevant departments will be authorized to carry out any relocation or adjustment in the site’s dimensions and area, provided such changes do not exceed the designated area, in case of conflict with infrastructure services or any regulatory requirements.

In another health and service file, the committee discussed the Ministry of Health’s request to allocate plot number (162), located in the second sector of the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, plot 2 of New Shuwaikh, to serve as a site for insect and rodent control services, in implementation of Cabinet of Ministers’ Decision No. (659).

She also confirmed that the committee approved the request, noting that the plot covers an area of 22,500 square meters, and that the relevant departments will be authorized to relocate and adjust the site’s dimensions and area, provided such changes do not exceed the designated area, in case of conflict with existing infrastructure services or regulatory requirements.

The committee chairperson added that the committee reviewed the Ministry of Interior’s request to amend the Municipal Council’s decision regarding the headquarters of the Police Equestrian and Mounted Units in the Central District, so that the site’s designation would be changed to the Police Sports Federation headquarters, with an expansion of the site to be used for establishing sports fields and hosting athletic activities.

The technical opinion included approval to expand the site, whose original area is 75,000 square meters, to approximately 102,000 square meters after expansion, to be utilized for sports fields and activities.

The approval also included relocating the existing service street between the site and the Arab Horse site, with a width not less than 17 meters, and maintaining a setback of 4 meters, according to the attached sketch, in addition to submitting a detailed traffic study before finalization, and adhering to the conditions outlined in the responses of the sub-committee for utilities and public services, and coordinating with them prior to implementation.

On the regulatory side, Engineer Al-Amir stated that the committee discussed a proposal to amend Articles Two and Eight of Ministerial Decision No. (322) of 2023 concerning the system for the subdivision and partitioning of land prepared for construction and its amendments.

The proposal was reviewed in light of a study by the Legal Administration, which addressed the possibility of reconsidering several conditions governing subdivision and partitioning projects, particularly those related to the regulation of real estate, property rights, and procedures specific to such projects. The committee approved, according to the technical opinion, the proposal to amend Articles Two and Eight.
