Greetings on the occasion of the Kingdom of Arab and Muslim Countries
On this day in 1932, King Abdulaziz Al Saud announced the unification of a vast territory that would later establish a significant international, Arab, and Gulf presence, officially naming it the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
This man built a kingdom that continues to exert considerable influence, consistently serving as the central pivot in Arab and international political trajectories. It is the sanctuary under which the peoples of the Arab and Islamic worlds find shelter, thanks to its enduring patronage of the Two Holy Mosques. Before the unification, the pilgrimage to the Holy Kaaba was fraught with hardship, characterized by banditry, looting, and violence. However, from the moment of the Kingdom’s unification, the Hajj became free of such obstacles. Consequently, the peoples of the Islamic world harbor deep affection and goodwill for the rulers of Saudi Arabia, from the Founding King to the present day, under the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
Over the course of nearly a century, the Kingdom has witnessed numerous successes, as well as some setbacks, yet it has always risen stronger. This resilience is attributed to divine protection, as God has blessed the Kingdom with rulers who believe they are serving the Holy Kaaba and the Prophet’s Mosque, fulfilling their duty to their religion, Arab identity, Gulf heritage, and citizens with utmost honesty and transparency.
For 96 years, Riyadh has lived up to its name, meaning "Gardens of Wisdom" and "Gardens of Goodness" for the Arab world, and "Gardens of Assistance" for Gulf brothers, particularly Kuwait. When Kuwait faced a major calamity, the Kingdom stood at the forefront of supporters. To this day, Kuwaitis remember the words of the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz: "Kuwait must return, God willing; otherwise, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will go together." This stance perfectly encapsulates the shared destiny between the two sister nations, and indeed, all the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
In 1990, the Emirate of Riyadh transformed into an operations center to assist Kuwaitis, at the order of its then-emir, Salman bin Abdulaziz. This position is well-remembered by Kuwaitis, just as the Kingdom’s stance toward Kuwait, Arabs, and Muslims is. This commitment was articulated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, on multiple occasions: "We cooperate with our Arab and Muslim brothers across the board in defending their countries, ensuring their independence, and preserving their systems as chosen by their peoples."
Since 2015, the Kingdom’s leadership has embraced openness to the world, taking significant steps that have been welcomed globally. These initiatives have brought great happiness to the Saudi people through major developmental projects, restoring the Kingdom’s pioneering role as a creator of culture and developmental excellence in various fields.
Saudi Arabia’s benevolence has not been confined to its geographical borders; it has extended to the Arab and Islamic worlds, as well as various regions globally, by God’s grace. The Kingdom has consistently been, and remains, the largest supporter of regional stability, proving daily that it is faithful to its religion, its Gulf identity, its Arab heritage, and to humanity.
Over the course of nearly a century, this land has transformed into a workshop of achievements across all levels. Therefore, when the slogan for the National Day celebration is "Our Pride is Our Nature," it translates the meanings of authenticity for Saudi identity, along with the values of goodness and loyalty. These are traits of the great and noble, who are sincere with their Lord, themselves, and their people. This has been the path of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from its founding to the present day.
