State Security Court Upholds 3-Year Prison Sentence for Nasser Al-Munif

A State Security Appeals Court upheld the first-instance court’s ruling sentencing Nasser Al-Munifi to three years in prison, following accusations that he publicly questioned the rights of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait via the “X” platform, insulted members of the judiciary, and cast doubt on their integrity. The case was filed based on a complaint by the State Security Apparatus.

The Public Prosecution had previously charged Al-Munifi with offenses related to posts he published on his “X” account, which included statements deemed offensive to His Highness the Amir, as well as remarks targeting members of the judiciary and questioning their impartiality.
