U.S. Secretary of State: The United States will always stand by Saudi Arabia and support it

- Open to dialogue with Iran... and 70% of oil traffic through Hormuz has resumed

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that the conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia is dangerous, affirming that the United States will always stand by Riyadh and support it.

Rubio added, in remarks on the "Today" show on NBC News, that his country is determined to fulfill its commitments to Saudi Arabia, noting that it is considering the possibility of reaching a resolution to the conflict.

Regarding the Iranian issue, Rubio stated that the United States is open to dialogue with the Iranians during the United Nations General Assembly meetings, but no meeting is currently scheduled.

He added: "We are open to that. I don't believe anything is scheduled at the moment, but we are certainly open to such an engagement, especially if it leads to a positive outcome and achieves the desired goal in the end."

Concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Rubio said that the vast majority of vessels pass through the strait without being subjected to attacks, confirming that the number of ships transiting it is increasing daily.

He further stated, during the same program, that 70% of oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has resumed flowing, noting that oil prices would be higher if Iran possessed a nuclear weapon.
