Why should we celebrate with Saudi Arabia and stand together with it?

When September 23 arrives, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not the only one celebrating its National Day; every Arab and Muslim who recognizes its place in the heart of the nation shares in the joy. Saudi Arabia is not merely a sister state, but the land of the Message, the place where revelation descended, the Qibla of Muslims, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the steadfast pillar of Gulf security and global stability, both Arab and Islamic.

On this day, the Kingdom renews its commemoration of an eternal moment in its history. On 17 Jumada al-Awwal 1351 AH, corresponding to September 19, 1932, the Founding King, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, issued a royal decree unifying the country and naming it the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," with implementation beginning on Thursday, 21 Jumada al-Awwal, corresponding to September 23, 1932.

Prior to that, the country was known as the "Kingdom of Hejaz, Nejd, and its Dependencies." The announcement of the new name crowned a long struggle led by King Abdulaziz, with the wisdom of a leader and the resolve of a founder, who united scattered regions, unified the word and the flag, and established a state with firm foundations. Therefore, September 23 is no longer just a date on the calendar; it has become a symbol of unity after division, of security after turmoil, and of building a great nation.

Since that glorious founding, the Kings of the Kingdom have succeeded one another in bearing the trust, preserving unity, and building the state. Under the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia has reached a new stage of strength, modernization, and openness to the future. "Saudi Vision 2030" emerged as a national project that reshaped the economy, unleashed the potential of youth, expanded fields of investment, industry, technology, culture, and tourism, and solidified the Kingdom’s presence in regional and international decision-making.

On this cherished occasion, we extend our sincerest congratulations and best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his Crown Prince, the noble Royal Family, and the fraternal Saudi people, praying to God to protect the Kingdom, its leadership, and its people, and to perpetuate security, unity, and prosperity upon it.

This occasion coincides with a time when the Kingdom is facing malicious Houthi attacks targeting its security, cities, facilities, and the safety of its residents, in an escalation that cannot be justified by any pretext. Attacking Saudi Arabia is not a transient border incident, but an assault on a sovereign state, a threat to Gulf security and regional stability, and a danger to civilian lives and the assets of peoples.

The danger of these attacks increases when threats extend to the surroundings of Makkah al-Mukarramah, the purest place on earth and the Qibla of Muslims. The sanctity of Makkah is not merely an internal Saudi matter, and the security of the Two Holy Mosques is not the sole responsibility of the Kingdom; it is a trust in the conscience of every Muslim. Any threat to the holy sites or to the guests of the Merciful crosses all religious, moral, and human red lines.

Standing with the Kingdom is a religious, moral, and political duty, and a natural alignment with the state against chaos, with legitimacy against the logic of militias, and with civilian security against missiles and drones. The Kingdom is not defending only its borders, but the security of a nation, the interests of peoples, and the future of an entire region.

Saudi Arabia has proven that its deterrence capability is inseparable from the wisdom of its leadership, and that restraint is not weakness, but an expression of responsible strength that understands the consequences of war. However, wisdom does not mean allowing aggression to continue, nor does peace stand without the force that protects it. Those who bet on the Kingdom’s patience misunderstand its history, its capabilities, and the will of its people.

As for Kuwait, its support for the Kingdom is not a diplomatic courtesy, but a fulfillment of a shared history and destiny. The ties between the two countries run deeper than borders, bound by religion, lineage, proximity, and blood. Kuwait also retains an unforgotten memory of the Kingdom’s decisive stance during the brutal Iraqi invasion in 1990, when the Kingdom hosted Kuwaitis, mobilized its resources to liberate the country, and restore its legitimacy.

From this perspective, Saudi security is Kuwaiti security, and its stability is the stability of the entire Gulf. Any aggression against it demands a unified Gulf, Arab, and Islamic response that tolerates no hesitation or narrow calculations.

On its National Day, we say to the Kingdom’s leadership and people: Your joys are our joys, your security is our security, and your place in our hearts remains unchanged. May God protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, safeguard the land of the Two Holy Mosques from all harm, repel the plots of aggressors, keep the banner of monotheism flying high over it, and grant it a future befitting its great history and the lofty aspirations of its people.
