'Axeios': Trump hesitates to launch strikes on Houthis after discussing execution over the weekend

Axios reported on Monday that US President Donald Trump considered over the weekend the possibility of launching military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen, before deciding to hold off for now, according to US officials.

The website quoted a US official as saying that US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper prepared options for conducting airstrikes in Yemen and presented them to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Saturday, while Trump consulted with his top advisors on the possibility of carrying out the strikes.

According to Axios, the review of military options came after Saudi Arabia late last week renewed its request to Washington to take military action against the Houthis, before Trump ultimately decided to hold off. The White House declined to comment.

In the same vein, the New York Times, as reported by Reuters, stated that the US administration was preparing on Sunday to launch airstrikes against the Houthis, before Trump canceled the strikes at the last minute. Reuters noted that it was unable to independently verify this information.
