The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Bouaidi, affirmed on Monday that the active Gulf presence at international forums, along with the continuous growth in the Council’s relations with regional and international states, groups, and organizations, reflects the advanced standing of the GCC member states on the global stage and their strategic partnerships.

The Council’s General Secretariat stated in a press release that this comment came in a statement by Al-Bouaidi on the occasion of the meeting of the GCC Coordinating Ministerial Council, chaired by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, who holds the current rotating presidency, and attended by the foreign ministers of the GCC member states. The meeting was held on Sunday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, United States.

The GCC Secretary-General said the meeting comes within the framework of continuous coordination and consultation among Gulf states on various issues and topics of common interest, thereby enhancing the unity of the Gulf position and consolidating joint efforts by the Council’s member states at regional and international forums.

He clarified that the meeting reviewed and discussed the joint ministerial meetings of the GCC scheduled to be held with several states, groups, and regional and international organizations on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, alongside coordination on the topics and issues on their agendas, which aims to enhance common interests and advance cooperation and partnership toward broader horizons.

Al-Bouaidi noted that the joint ministerial meetings convened by the GCC on the sidelines of the General Assembly reflect the mutual interest of the Council and its international and regional partners in developing relations, based on the pivotal role of Gulf states and their growing standing in supporting security, stability, and development, and enhancing opportunities for dialogue and cooperation at both regional and international levels.

He also affirmed that GCC member states are continuing to strengthen their regional and international relations and build effective and sustainable partnerships based on mutual respect and common interests, contributing to consolidating security, stability, peace, and development regionally and internationally, while also reflecting the unified positions of the Council’s member states on regional and international issues.

It is worth noting that Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber participated on Sunday in the Coordinating Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the GCC member states, which was held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, United States.
