Kuwait's Consul General in Jeddah: 'Al-Azraq's' participation in 'Gulf Cup 27' strengthens Kuwaiti sports presence

- He praised the Kingdom’s preparations for the tournament... and the national team begins its campaign against its Saudi counterpart on Wednesday

The Consul General of Kuwait in Jeddah and Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Yousef Al-Tineeb, affirmed on Sunday the importance of participating in the Gulf Cup for National Football Teams (Gulf 27) and enhancing the presence of Kuwaiti sports on international platforms.

This came in a statement made by Consul Al-Tineeb to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), during his visit to the Kuwait national senior football team delegation while they were training at the auxiliary pitch of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, ahead of the tournament which kicks off next Wednesday.

He expressed his wishes for the national team’s success and achievement of results befitting the status and history of Kuwaiti football in the tournament.

He praised the preparations provided by the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host the matches of Gulf 27, commending the high level he observed in organizational aspects, facilities for receiving participating teams and delegations, and the provision of necessary requirements to ensure the tournament’s success.

Consul Al-Tineeb expressed his confidence that these efforts would contribute to the tournament’s success, given the Kingdom’s distinctive capabilities and expertise in hosting and organizing major sporting events.

The Kuwait national senior football team resumed its training on Sunday at the auxiliary pitch of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, in preparation for the Gulf Cup for National Football Teams (Gulf 27), which will commence next Wednesday.

The Kuwaiti team is expected to begin its participation in the tournament on the first day with one of the most prominent matches, as it will face its Saudi counterpart, the host nation with its home crowd, next Wednesday, giving the tournament a strong popular launch.

The Saudi city of Jeddah is hosting the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup from September 23 to October 6.

Kuwait is participating in Group A, which includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman, while Group B comprises the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Yemen.
