Interior Ministry: Four steps to protect home surveillance cameras from hacking

The Ministry of Interior called for taking several key steps to enhance the security of home surveillance cameras and protect them, in an awareness post published on its account on the "X" platform.

The ministry explained that securing home surveillance cameras relies on four main elements: the password, the home internet network, remote access services, and the source of camera purchase, emphasizing the need to review their settings periodically.

It stressed the importance of regularly changing the default password, using symbols and numbers, and connecting the camera to a reliable and protected home internet network.

The ministry also urged users to change the secret code for the "ONVIF" service, which can be used for remote access, and to monitor login logs, in addition to purchasing cameras from well-known and reputable companies to ensure the strength of their security systems.

The ministry affirmed the necessity of changing device settings, noting that if users are unsure how to set the camera system password, they should refer to the user manual or the installation company.
