Confirming what Al-Siyasa published in its issue dated September 17, 2026, regarding the Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s (KNPC) exceptional and historic leap in its financial and operational performance during the fiscal year 2025/2026, as its net profits exceeded the one billion Kuwaiti dinar threshold for the first time in its history.

Officially, KNPC announced through its annual report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, that it recorded record net profits amounting to 1,127,685,078 dinars, reflecting the great success of its operational strategy and the development of its mega refining projects, which have enhanced its position in global markets and provided the national economy with substantial financial returns.

A Bundle of Achievements

In the same context, KNPC CEO Wadha Al-Khatib confirmed in the same report that the company achieved a number of accomplishments during the fiscal year 2025/2026, the most important of which include:

The Al-Shuwaikh Refinery successfully conducted a performance efficiency test to increase the operational capacity of the Petroleum Coke Unit (136-DCU) from 37,000 to 42,550 barrels per day. Final insurance approval was obtained to increase the operational capacity beyond the design capacity of the Sulfur Recovery Unit (123-SRU) from 450 to 540 metric tons per day. Additionally, the North Jetty Integration Improvement Project at the Al-Shuwaikh Refinery was successfully completed, facilitating oil exports and allowing the jetty to be used until 2037.

Digital Transformation

In an achievement that is the first of its kind in the region, and as part of implementing the strategic plan for digital transformation in the Kuwaiti oil sector, Al-Khatib confirmed that the company, in collaboration with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and sister oil companies, executed integrated mechanization for the first digital shipment of petrochemical naphtha. The shipment was loaded at the Abdullah Port Refinery via the EasyShip electronic platform and sent to Mitsubishi in Japan in January 2026. This process accelerated operational cycle times, improved coordination among stakeholders, and enhanced governance and procedural control, thereby contributing to strengthening supply chain efficiency.

Al-Khatib noted that the company successfully loaded the first shipment of low-sulfur (10ppm) dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) at the Abdullah Port Refinery, in accordance with the global ASTM D3001 specification, as part of efforts to improve product quality and expand external market reach for these products.

She stated that the company successfully completed the operation of installing pipelines between the company’s refineries and storage facilities to pump petroleum products, thereby enhancing efficiency and contributing to increased operational flexibility to effectively meet local market demands for petroleum products.

Creating National Job Opportunities

Among the achievements, Al-Khatib revealed the successful completion of the comprehensive maintenance of the gas liquefaction plant at the Al-Shuwaikh Refinery, which covered three main units. This marked the first maintenance of its kind within the five-year plan, making routine maintenance of the gas plant’s lines and units occur every five years instead of every four years as was previously the case. She explained that this step reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards of efficiency and operational reliability.

To reinforce the company’s role in creating job opportunities for national cadres, Al-Khatib noted that the company hired 171 new Kuwaiti employees across various specializations, bringing the proportion of Kuwaiti nationals employed by the company to 92.8%. It is worth noting that all employees undergo general and specialized training courses; 57 employees were trained under the organized on-the-job training program, raising the total number of graduates from this distinguished program to 1,247, including both men and women.
