Cooper noted that the volume of oil and gas transported through the Strait of Hormuz during the past two weeks reached its highest level in six months, adding that CENTCOM is working with Gulf states and shipping and insurance companies to increase navigation traffic through the strait.

He confirmed that the main transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz are now free of mines, with thousands of ships having successfully navigated it, while noting that Iran has not exported any barrels of oil due to the U.S. sanctions imposed on it.

On the defense front, Cooper pointed out that CENTCOM is working with its regional partners to strengthen their air defense capabilities, as well as establishing a new attack drone unit.
