Egyptian Foreign Minister and Senior Advisor to the U.S. President Discuss Regional Developments

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest regional developments in a telephone call on Saturday with Masad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs.

According to a statement by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the call addressed the latest developments regarding the crisis with Iran, emphasizing the importance of ensuring freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the rules and provisions of international law.

The statement noted that both sides discussed ongoing efforts and communications aimed at de-escalating the situation in Sudan. Abdelatty underscored the importance of building on current efforts to end the conflict and create conditions for finding political solutions, while elevating the values of dialogue and negotiation. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the protection of its national institutions.

The statement added that the call also touched on the situation in Libya and ways to achieve progress in the political process and end the country’s division. Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt’s approach to the Libyan file is based on the priority of preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, alongside supporting the unity of its national institutions.

In this context, he stressed the importance of coordinating regional and international efforts supporting the Libyan political track, which would help the Libyan parties reach a sustainable settlement that reflects their will and preserves the unity of the state and its institutions.
