Israeli occupation forces burn Mays al-Jabal government hospital... and the Lebanese Health Ministry: A complete war crime

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health strongly condemned, on Friday, the burning of the Mays al-Jabal government hospital in southern Lebanon by Israeli occupation forces, describing the incident as a "systematic criminal act."

In a statement, the ministry said it had worked to repair and rehabilitate the hospital following the first war on Lebanon in 2024, equipping it with the latest medical devices and equipment.

The ministry stated that the burning of the hospital aims to deprive residents of the south of their right to healthcare, noting that Israeli occupation forces had previously stationed themselves in the facility and converted it into a military barracks.

The ministry affirmed that targeting medical institutions constitutes a "complete war crime and a blatant violation of international agreements," calling on the international community, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to immediately end their silence and hold the occupation accountable for its repeated attacks on Lebanon’s healthcare sector.

In a separate security development, the Lebanese Army Command clarified that one of its patrols established a newly created temporary monitoring point on September 10 at the outskirts of the town of Deir Mimas in the Marjeyoun district, in coordination with the Special Coordination Group for Lebanon, to accompany residents as they inspected their agricultural lands.

It added that an Israeli occupation force approached the newly established point on Friday and threw tear gas canisters in its vicinity, prompting the Lebanese Army to reinforce the point and resulting in a state of alert on both sides.

The command noted that communications held through the Special Coordination Group led to the withdrawal of the Israeli force from the area, after which Lebanese Army personnel returned to their main base in the town, with monitoring and coordination continuing.
