Heavy rains flood Lebanon's roads... as flash floods turn them into lakes

Heavy rains turned several roads in Lebanon into flooded areas and flash flood zones within hours, a scene stretching from the north to the Bekaa Valley, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon, amid the circulation of video clips documenting the impacts of the low-pressure system striking the country.

The clips showed rising water levels and the submersion of several roads and vehicles in the capital, Beirut, as well as in the Nahr al-Mawt, Al-Mansouriya, Al-Makles, and Al-Dakwaniya areas, while parts of some roads appeared like lakes due to the intensity of the precipitation.

In the Gallery Semaan area of Baabda, heavy rains turned roads into swamps, with water submerging numerous vehicles and cars.

In Khlada, a large marine storm was recorded off the coast, coinciding with the effects of the low-pressure system and rainy weather.

In Zahle, heavy rains caused flash floods on some roads without any reported damage, while other scenes showed intense precipitation on the Al-Makles–Metn road.

In the north, clips documented rainwater flooding the Shkaa–Batroun highway, while the effects of the rainfall were also evident at the Al-Mawli–Abi Samra roundabout in Tripoli.
