Kuwait and Canada sign memorandum of understanding for cooperation in defense and security

- The foreign ministers of the two countries discussed enhancing coordination and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

On Thursday, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber signed a memorandum of understanding with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, between the Government of the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Defense, and the Government of Canada, represented by the Canadian Commercial Corporation, regarding cooperation in the field of defense and security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the signing took place at the conclusion of Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber’s meeting with the friendly Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, during his official visit to the Canadian capital, Ottawa.

The statement added that the meeting reviewed the close relations between the two friendly countries and reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to intensifying Kuwaiti-Canadian coordination across all fronts, and strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks in various fields, reflecting the robust and distinguished relations between the two countries and advancing them toward broader horizons to serve their shared interests.

The two sides also discussed recent regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the developments in the region and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and enhancing security and stability.
