Bahrain condemns Houthi militia's targeting of Taif and affirms its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia

- Called on the Security Council to take a firm stance to halt the attacks and hold their perpetrators accountable

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed, on Thursday, its strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These attacks targeted the Taif Governorate with a drone; after the drone was intercepted and destroyed, the resulting debris caused the death of a resident, injuries to a female citizen and another resident, as well as material damage to several buildings and vehicles.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized these acts as a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and the relevant Security Council resolutions.

The Ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. This underscores that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security.

The Ministry extended its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased resident, who was of Yemeni nationality, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Bahrain’s call on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance to stop the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to hold the perpetrators accountable, and to implement its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, as well as the provisions of Resolution 2817 calling for the cessation of the use of proxies, thereby contributing to the preservation of regional and international security and stability.
